Dance, stunts, and water spirits at Lake Müggelsee: Since 2020, Florentina Holzinger and her team have been presenting musically-performative experiments in public spaces. These so-called Etudes have previously taken place on parking decks, streets, and urban squares. KRANETUDE ventures for the first time to a popular Berlin excursion destination: Seebad Friedrichshagen. Here, a choreography for eight bodies and a crane on the water is being created to the composition of drummer Katharina Ernst for multiple percussion instruments. This Etude seeks new presentation contexts for dance, building on research into feminist approaches to the element of water and exploring possibilities of “technical” theater in water. On the moving lake, the composition sets the rhythm in harmony with the mechanical gear.
