a : z is short for ausdehnen : zusammenziehen, which can be translated to english by expand : contract. Designed to be projected on three large surfaces as a tryptich, a : z_counterpoint puts emphasis on a critical view of a strange "ensemble": one person can be seen in interaction with herself. She is performing all parts of an orchestrated composition consisting of three voices. Communication is no longer happening between several individuals but within a single person.
